Happy Holidays from the Waldner’s
‘Tis the Season to reflect on the past year and be so grateful for what a wonderful year it was! The year seemed to fly by, we must have had too much fun! Thankfully I have our family blog to look back at to remind me of what we have been up to. If you don’t already follow us, look us up at www.waldners.blogspot.com.
The kids are continuing to control life around here! Ms. Kayden Mary is now 8 ½ years old and in 3rd grade. She does very well in school, especially Math and Spelling and is our well-mannered child. She is active in dance again this year and is excited to be doing ballet, tap and jazz this year. She played softball over the summer and is currently playing basketball. She is mom’s good helper and likes to be given small tasks to do. She likes to play with her friends and spend time with her cousins. Kayden especially likes summer when we can get out on the boat. She loves to be out on the water and would spend as much time as possible out there! She is our little girlie girl who is growing up way too fast for our liking!
Jack Man is now 6 years old and started Kindergarten this year. Mom does not do well on the first day of school and wasn’t excited for him to go. If you ask Jack, he is indifferent when it comes to school, he goes every day no problem, but doesn’t get too excited about it. He is however excited that he is learning to read. He also does very well in school, we love to hear good things at school because he acts like a different child at home! He is pretty good, but he and his dad can go around sometimes, probably because they are just alike! Jack got to play t-ball for the first time this year and used a special bat he got from his baseball idol, Cody Ege. He did soccer in the fall and is now giving wrestling a try. He is our little sports guy. He loves the Cherokee Braves and also the Cyclones. He even got to go on the field at an ISU football game this year while the team was warming up. He was so excited, the quarterback even came over and gave him a high five! He was speechless!
Then there is Kyle James who is 3 ½ years old. He could have gone to preschool this year but we spared the teachers and are giving him another year to mature before he goes. Kyle is our wild child. He is on the go non-stop. His big brown eyes and his cheesy smile make everyone fall in love with him, and get him out of a lot of trouble. He enjoys playing with his cousins Brock and Britt while the others are at school and gets excited when Jack gets home to play fighting guys with him. He learned how to ride a big boy bike, with training wheels, this summer and within 5 minutes he informed me he could ride it fast, and he takes off! He also got into his first car accident this fall. He was playing in daddy’s truck, turned the key over, stepped on the brake, put it in gear and rolled it down the driveway and into a tree. Good thing we have insurance because paying off the $4300 damage would have meant no Christmas this year! As you can tell, he keeps us on our toes!
Jeff keeps very busy as Pharmacy Manager at Hy-Vee Drugstore here in town. He also seems to have meetings every time we turn around as he is on the Board of Health, the Plains Area Mental Health Board and the Administrative Board at church. Korrie is continuing to keep things running at home, trying to stay active with MOPS, teaching Sunday school, PTA, and keeping track of everyone’s schedules! Jeff had his first coaching experience this fall with Jack’s soccer team and Korrie is currently coaching Kayden’s basketball team. We have made several trips to Ames this year as a family to a basketball game and a couple football games. The kids always get excited when we take them to the games. Our biggest adventure was taking the kids to California in March to Disneyland, Sea World and Legoland. We had a fantastic time and the kids were so good and had so much fun. In June Jeff and Korrie too a quick trip out to Washington DC for a friends wedding and were able to do some site seeing also. We also went to Des Moines for state baseball again this year as our Braves made it for the 7th year in a row. When we are not all the ballpark we were on the water enjoying our boat. We love starting each week by going to Korrie’s parents for supper every Sunday night. All 18 of us and G’pa and G’ma Morgan get together to eat and get our week planned. We have lots of fun and the kids are so lucky to have this time to spend with their grandparents.
