ICubs Game

Today we headed off to Des Moines for our mini vacation. G'pa Chuck got us some free tickets to the ICubs games tonight. I realized about the 6th inning that I hadn't taken any pictures yet, so grabbed the camera. My crew at the game. We were entertaining ourselves between innings.
Jack entertaining daddy during the game. Jack loved the game. The ICubs took a lead right away, then about the 4th inning the feel behind by 4 runs. The 5th inning people started to leave. The bottom of the 5th they came back and tied it up!
The San Francisco Chicken was there for one night only. He put on quiet a show and the kids thought he was great. He did something every inning, this inning he had a dance off with Barney! It was hilarious! So, we stayed the whole game and we are glad we did! The top of the 8th inning a man that worked there asked us if our family would like to be "Family Fans" and go out on the field and participate in a game at the end of the 8th inning. We said sure. So they took us down to the dugout and we got to stand inside the ICubs dugout the bottom of the 8th inning. Which ended up being a long inning as the cubbies went on a hitting streak and scored more runs. It was great. We were right there up close to all the action. Right next to the players and coaches. It was great. Some player who was sitting by us took it upon himself to tease Jack, it was great. He would throw sunflower seeds at him and joke with him. The kids loved it! Jeff has pictures on his phone I need to figure out how to get them on the computer and will post. So we played our quick, 30 second game where we had to throw cheese slices (bean bags) onto a tarp that had cheese burgers on it. It was Kraft Singles night, hence the burgers and cheese! We even got a prize for doing the game! After the game, which the cubs won, the kids got to run the bases. Here they are going out onto the field.

What a fun night we had! Oh, and we even caught a t-shirt they shot out of the cannon during one of the innings. We were disappointed when we realized it wasn't a Cubs shirt, but a shirt sponsored by the YMCA.Everyone wants a Lead Safe home t-shirt, right? Oh well!

And here are the balls we got for playing the same. Kyle thinks they are great!
Thanks for getting us those free tickets, G'pa Chuck! We had a GREAT time!
