New Bikes

We decided it was time the kids got new bikes. They both have outgrown their old ones, as their seats were all the way put up and their knees were still hitting the handles bars! We debated on asking the Easter Bunny to bring them, but decided it might be better to let them pick out their very own bikes. So today we took a drive to Storm Lake to Wal-Mart to look. I prepared them that they might not have exactly what they want, and that is fine, we can look somewhere else. But we lucked out and they found just what they wanted. Kayden had about 6 different bikes to choose from and she picked this blue Bratz one right away. We let her sit on it and ride an aisle at the store. She did try two others ones, but really liked this one the best. I did too, it kinda has a unique look to it. She did good! She is adjusting to having a taller bike. She is not use to just being able to put her feet down to stop, she really has to use her brake and balance, but she isn't having any trouble now after taking a spin around the neighborhood.
Now Jack said right away he wanted a Spiderman bike. I was afraid we wouldn't find one, but the very first bike we saw was Spiderman. He didn't even look at the others ones and that was just fine. He knew that was it. He got on it, it fit, we bought it. Then he was insistent that he needed the matching Spiderman helmet that also came with knee pads and elbow pads. Which he needed a helmet anyway for those longer rides. We put them all on and he got on for a spin.
He can peddle much easier with this bigger bike. He thinks he can maybe beat Kayden now when they race up the street! Unfortunately, don't think that is going to happen just yet!
Kyle was adamant at the store that he was getting a bike too. He kept riding on this very little baby bike that he was way too big for! He was mad when he didn't get it. But when we got home we put the seat on Jack's old bike all the way down and he climbed right on it, looked at me and said "cheese!" He wanted his picture taken with his new bike too! So cute! He doesn't have a clue what to do, but does like to get off and on it! I won't be surprised that he'll be riding it by the end of the summer. That kids does so many things I am not expecting!

So we are set for the summer with our new rides!

Hey Korrie, I'm looking to get Sophia a bike for her 3rd birthday. What size would you recommend for a three year old (12, or 16)?

Jack is 4 1/2 and we got a 16in. His last bike he got when he was 3 was a 12in. I would probably go with a 12in and that should last her a couple years. My kids are tall for their age and Jack used his 12 in for 2 years. She'll love having a bike!

Shhh, don't tell Sophia; I went with the 12" Disney Princess bike.

Wally World had a pretty good price on one, so I decided to go ahead and get it.

Thanks for your advice.

She'll love it. That almost brought tears to my eyes, Kayden's first bike was a pink Disney princess bike with a baby seat on the back for her dolls. Makes me sad she is so growing up too fast!
