Today we woke up and headed to Ford's Theater where President Lincoln was shot. We got there, looked around and couldn't find where to go in at. There were several other people doing the same. Finally we found someone who worked there who let us know it was closed just for today for a charity benefit. SO, we got pictures of the outside.

So we headed to the American History Museum. Each museum took us a little over 2 hours to see and some areas we moved through pretty quickly. Very big museums. We got to see Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz.
The even had Dumbo, which we rode in Disneyland. Kyle wanted to know if we got to ride him.

One other exhibit we really liked was about the Presidents and they had letters that children had written to various presidents over the years. They were hilarious to read. After here, we headed for lunch. As we were going, the sky turned really dark and right as we sat down to eat, it down poured. So we took our time. When we were done, the rain was letting up, so we headed to the National History Museum. Here is the outside of it.
The kids would love this one! Lots of animal stuff. The large elephant when you first walk in.

The Hope Diamond. I believe it is just over 42 carats.
A fossil of a sea turtle
The Ocean Hall, which was very cool. A giant whale hanging from the ceiling.
The Mammal Hall was neat too. Jeff had to pose by this large bear for the kids to see.
After this museum, we went out and took one last look around the Mall area and decided to call it a day. We were exhausted and ready to go back, pack up our stuff and get to bed early. We had a great time in DC, but couldn't wait to see home to see our kiddos!
