Da da dant. Da da dant. (Ok, now you read it, go back and read it with heart, you all know it, and for those who don’t turn your TV to ESPN) It’s week 51, crunch time. Time to see what you are made of, time to make it count. As we prepare for the big dance, let’s look back at the top 10 plays that brought us to this point.
10. It’s game day baby! This year Kayden played basketball, softball and dance. Jack did some wrestling, baseball, soccer and was the playground MVP of football. And Kyle is the #1 fan at all these events, but plays at home with the rest of us. We attend a lot of sporting events in one year, supporting our family, our Braves, the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes (well mom does at least).
9. There are 18 on the field. Wait, isn’t that a penalty? They are ready, they take off, they may go all the way…to Florida! Yes, 8 adults and 10 kids take off to Disney World for 5 crazy fun filled days to celebrate Korrie’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. What great fun we had and so excited the kids got to experience it with their best friends, their cousins! Everyone did great on the flight, everyone behaved at the parks, and everyone was exhausted when we returned home. Mission accomplished!
8. And the prize for the prettiest girl goes to Kayden Mary. Our girle is now 9 years old and in the 4th grade. This future Rhodes Scholar keeps her parents proud with academic achievements, this year being in the TAG program. She is our little dancer and a good one at that! She also loves to spend time with her friends and the neighbors. She is our good helper at home and likes the chances she gets to be “in charge” when mom runs a quick errand. She attended church camp for the first time for 2 nights and is ready to go back next year. She also joined 4H this year and is excited for all the activities that will bring us this next year.
7. Do you know which team has made it to the most Super Bowls? Who won the most? Who won it in 1976? Do you know every NFL teams record, who they lost to and who they beat all year? Well if you lived with Jack you would. This 7 year old, 1st grader is a future Cyclone football player with the Chicago Bears waiting to grab him in the draft. He currently holds records for most yards thrown at Roosevelt Elementary recess games and is not too bad on the receiving end of the ball either. One word that describes Jack: football! He is an ace at Math and one excellent reader too, usually reading football books.
6. Here he comes….there he goes. That would Kyle for you. The now 4 ½ year old little guy has turned into a big boy the second he took his first steps into preschool this year! And no, his mamma is not happy about it. When not busy with school, he spends his days playing with his cousins, being ornery, and trying to keep up with everything his big brother Jack does. He looks forward to story time at the library on Tuesdays followed by a trip to McDonalds for lunch, which he never lets me forget! He is our go-getter, never a dull moment with this kid, he keeps everyone on their toes.
5. I’d like to see that again, please? That would be summer! It always goes by too fast. When we weren’t at the ball fields we tried to get out on the boat with Captain Jeff driving us and Cruise Director Korrie keeping everything else in line. The kids enjoyed 2 different Bible schools, and Kyle even got to go this year! We enjoyed fire pits in the backyard, cold ones with friends and smores for the kids, OK the adults enjoyed them too! We hit an ICubs game and were “Family Fans” and got to play a game on the field in between innings. A trip to Adventureland closed the summer out and then the dreaded word: school!
4. For I, For S, For U! And that’s all he said for weeks since that day, the day that will never be forgotten. The day Iowa State beat #2 Oklahoma State in which he was there, he was on the field, he took grass from the field and put it in a baggie I still have wondering what I am to do with it! We have watched it, and watched it again, and watched it again, then we got the DVD and that’s right, watched it again. I can say this, Jeff loves his Cyclones. And although he would love to go NYC for the Bowl Game, we will stay in our nice warm house and watch this one. But, they will be bowling next year, and we will be there, just ask Jeff! When not cheering the Clones on he is busy dishing out pills, at one of his many board meetings or just being daddy!
3. Rumblin’, stumblin’ bumblin’…that sums up my day. I start at 5:30am getting my butt kicked at the gym, home to get kids up and off to school, run kids to and from all day, keep the house in one piece, and finally gets to sit on the couch at 8:15pm when 3 little ones heads hit the pillow. I am coach of the year in basketball, according to Kayden and baseball thanks to Jack. And Kyle says I get teacher of the year for Sunday School, along with Aunt Kim and Aunt Kristi of course. I get more hugs and kisses in one day than most people do in a month, and for that I am very thankful!
2.There’s no I in team…and we know it. We have an amazing team. Every Sunday we still gather at Korrie’s parents for supper with G’pa and G’ma Morgan joining us. We usually are with all the Morgan cousins several times a year and were blessed with a new family member this year, Kayla Jo! Jeff’s parents just bought a new house in town. And with his sister’s family moving closer to home, we hope to spend more family gatherings there. We are lucky to have such a great team backing us!
1. He shoots…..he scores! And we scored big this year. We have had a very fun filled and very blessed 2011! We can only hope 2012 fills us with all the points, goals, touchdowns, and grand slams we can handle!
